Frequently Asked Question
Why won't faxes come through? (Residential)
Last Updated 13 years ago
In order for the fax to work when hooked up to the main telephone line at our residences it must be set to pick up two or more rings after the answering machine picks up.
Check the following things first:
- Make sure that the answering machine is turned on.
- Make a note of how many rings the answering machine is set to pick up after (this can be found by going through the menu on the phone).
If the answering machine is turned on try the following steps:
- On the printer control panel press the Setup key (key will have a little wrench on it).
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Fax Setup", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Fax Recv. Setup", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Rings to Answer", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the number pad on the control panel to enter the number of rings which should be two or more rings above the amount of rings till the answering machine picks up on the phone.
If the answering machine is turned & the number of rings is at least two or more rings more than the answering machine is set to pick up after then try the following steps:
- On the printer control panel press the Setup key (key will have a little wrench on it).
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Fax Setup", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the arrow buttons to select "All Faxes", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Fax Speed", and then press the "OK" button.
- Use the arrow buttons to select "Medium (V.17), and then press the "OK" button.
If after following these steps you still can't receive faxes please submit an IT Support ticket.
